RCAEM aims to support community led activity and strong local governance, increase the long term sustainability of rural communities and influence polices and services to achieve equity for rural communities by enabling the development of a sustainable RCA network supporting the 5 Rural Community Councils (RCC’s), in the region - these are:

Rural Community Council of Leicestershire & Rutland
Derbyshire Rural Community Council
Northamptonshire ACRE

Rural Community Action East Midlands is a company limited by guarantee which previously operated as the East Midlands Acre Network (EMAN). EMAN became RCAEM in 2009 in order to position the network in line with the national initiative, The Rural Community Action Network, which is the collective name for the 38 Rural Community Councils throughout England, their 8 regional bodies and their national umbrella Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE).

New Broadband Section of EMRAF Website
EMRAF have recently developed a new section of their website www.ruralaffairs.org.uk to bring together information that will support those with an interest in rural broadband. The broadband section includes real examples of how other rural communities have managed to find ways of getting broadband to remote areas. There is also access to information on funding opportunities. The Broadband resources page has various sections containing useful information such as awards, events, policies, papers and useful websites.
